Chi Lambda Zeta Chapter -- "Our Beginning"

On February 6, 2009, the charter was approved by the national organization and the name Chi Lambda Zeta was given to this chapter of trailblazing women.  The actual chartering ceremony and public reception was held at First Baptist Church Bartlett on March 7, 2009.  This group of women hit the ground running to provide services to the community by volunteering at community events and providing two scholarships for high school seniors.  A new legacy had begun in the Shelby County area of Zeta Phi Beta Sororty, Inc. known by the name Chi Lambda Zeta.

In October of 2009, Deborah Anderson, Carolyn Green, Yalaunda Taylor and Mary Dean Turner heard the call of Grand Basileus Sheryl P. Underwood - "Reclamation 2009--Come Home to Zeta".  They called up inactive sorors to meet and discuss their desire to serve their community.  By the month of December 2008, seventeen sorors heard the call.  These women met at Grace 4 You Family Restaurant in Bartlett, TN to discuss how they could continue the Zeta tradition of Service, Finer Womanhood, Scholarship and Sisterly Love in the Bartlett, Shelby County, TN area.
