Chi Lambda Zeta Chapter
"Our Beginning"
In the Fall of 2008, seventeen (17) women came together to form a new chapter. These ladies of Zeta Phi Beta answered the call of International President, Sheryl P. Underwood - "Reclamation 2009 - Come Home to Zeta." They began to meet to discuss their desire to serve their community.
By December 2008, they met at Grace 4 You Family Restaurant in Bartlett, Tennessee. They discussed how they would continue the Zeta tradition of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood in the Bartlett, Shelby County, Tennessee area. On February 6, 2009, the Charter was approved by the National organization and the name Chi Lambda Zeta was given to this chapter of trail blazing women. The actual Chartering Ceremony and public reception was held at First Baptist Church Bartlett on March 7, 2009.
This group of women hit the ground running to provide services to the community by volunteering at community events and providing two scholarships for high school seniors. A new legacy begins in the Shelby County, Tennessee area for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. by way of Chi Lambda Zeta.
